NTC migrated phone numbers from 7 to 8 digits

NTC (National Telecommunication Corporation) converted its telephone numbers from 7 to 8 digits. For this purpose they added digit “9″ in the start of numbers.

For example, if number is 920xxxx this number is now 9920xxxx after adding “9” in the start. NTC converted number between the night of April 30, 2009 and May 1, 2009.

PTCL changed landline numbers from 7 to 8 digits

PTCL (Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited) migrating its land line numbers from 7 to 8 digits in the direction of PTA. Intially they are converting the numbers in Lahore and Karachi. For this purpose digit “3” will add in the start of the number. For example, if number is 512xxxx will convert into 3512xxxx. By this the telephone exchange will have more capacity to accomodate new telephone connections.

Officially, all Lahore and Karachi numbers will shift in 8 digits by June 1st, 2009. Remember PTCL already completed successfull test for this tested by adding 3 in the start of the number.

Pakistan’s First Ever Virtual Job Fair

Another job fair is coming by the ROZEE.PK team. This time this is totally new. This will happened virtually not physically. It mean, you will not go to any where.  You will not spend any amount to reach the Job Fair venue and attend the employer. This time you only need the internet at your home.

The Virtual Job Fair will start by May 11 which will active up to May 17. During this one week you can meet the employers online from your home.

That’s why ROZEE.PK is saying “Find your Dream Job at ROZEE.PK’s First Ever Virtual Job Fair. Meet Pakistan’s Best Employers without leaving your home.”
I think, this will be a new experiment but risky in the market of Pakistan where most of the people may not understand how to use this.  This will be a highly responsibility of ROZEE team to educate people about the event.

You may visit ROZEE.PK Virtual Job Fair 2009 page to register yourself for the event.

My Experience to Renew National ID Card

Last month, My National ID card was expired. One week before expiry, I went to NADRA, Pakistan office on Abbot Road, Lahore. There was long queue in front of Ticket window. I went to inquiry office to confirm the procedure. The person on the insuquiry was very rude and did not guide me properly.

There were different people, who said that the inquiry counter officer and Ticket window officer both are not asking people for complete papers. Due to this they have number of trips to collect complete document for ID Card.

So, due to some other works, I left the NADRA office at that time.

After that, I went to NADRA office on November 3, 2008. It was 6:20 PM when I was there. Again there was a queue of 30 people. I also joined that queue.

From 7:30 to 8:30 was official break for Dinner. So, till 7:30 only 10 people could take TOKEN for ID Card.

After finish the break, The person on the Ticket window came back on 8:35 PM. I was lucky person that My number came before the end time which is 10 PM. It was 9:30 PM when I got my TICKET for ID Card.

I have entered into hall, Where again I did wait for 15 minutes for my number.

There were number of issues. There is a Board on the building where the slogan is “Computerized Shankhti Card – Sahoolat Ke Sath“. While

  • There is no sitting place
  • There is no shelter to cover from sun and rain
  • The staff has no NAME badges. Now, If I have complaint from any person, I can’t tell exact person name just because nobody tagged with name.
  • Don’t know, Why the person on Ticket Window is working very slow. He only gave Tickets to almost 40 people in 2.5 hours

I think, NADRA should have separate window for quick process for the peoples who want to renew their cards.

Also there should be facilites, like chairs, water etc. And need to trained people to work quickly.
