PTCL Launches Largest Data Centre

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd. (PTCL) launched the largest data center in Karachi. The data center has been developed on modem lines, keeping in view the latest development in the global telecom sector.

The center is protected from intrusion and failure with multi-layered security, fail-safe redundancy, diversity measures and rapid response recovery measures. The new center is directly connected to PTCL’s global multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) backbone to offer hosting solutions.

PTCL changed landline numbers from 7 to 8 digits

PTCL (Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited) migrating its land line numbers from 7 to 8 digits in the direction of PTA. Intially they are converting the numbers in Lahore and Karachi. For this purpose digit “3” will add in the start of the number. For example, if number is 512xxxx will convert into 3512xxxx. By this the telephone exchange will have more capacity to accomodate new telephone connections.

Officially, all Lahore and Karachi numbers will shift in 8 digits by June 1st, 2009. Remember PTCL already completed successfull test for this tested by adding 3 in the start of the number.

PTCL LogoPakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) decided to charge local call on telephone inquiry number One-Seven (17) from June 1, 2008. Also they have change the inquiry number from One-Seven(17) to One-Two-One-Seven(1217).
This is another shocking news for PTCL customers who already paying huge bills in non-standard services.

Now a day, subscriber of PTCL are upset from the service of PTCL and submitting applications to discontinue the number from their premises. (more…)

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) launched “Pakistan Package”

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has introduced a new
package under which its subscribers will be able to make free long distance
nationwide calls.

The call can made to all PTCL landline and wireless phone (vfone) numbers for a
modest fee of Rs. 199 per month under the facility called “Pakistan Package.”

According to the Company sources, all of its customers will initially be provided this facility and if any customer do not wish to continue, it can de-activate the facility by simply calling the 1236 helpline 24 hours a day. The customer can either speak with an operator or use the computerized system (IVR) and can also visit any customer care center or revenue office.

An official at PTCL said a fair usage policy will be in place and added a customer exceeding 5,000 nationwide minutes in any month will be charged Rs. 2 for each subsequent minute.


He said with the introduction of this new package, the green package will be discontinued as off December 1, 2007. The official said this is a landmark change in the history of Pakistan’s telecom industry.”Now, businesses, private entrepreneurs, students and residential users can stay in constant touch with anyone, anywhere in the country, as often as they want,” he said.He said the availability and affordability of mass communication are vital
for a nation’s progress and added PTCL has a renewed commitment to provide efficient and state of the art telecom services for its customers.

The official said along with the local call promotion of Rs. 3.99 per hour, the Pakistan Package represents the beginning of a new vision and a new era of customer service.
